A hidden sales lever: leads were hotter than they looked
The challenge
In an uncertain market, this company set a strategic priority to grow sales. Rather than only reviewing pricing or offer, one path forward was process-oriented: sales grow in proportion to the number of hot leads converted, so increasing hot leads becomes a direct lever for sales growth.
Where we focused
We ran this with the PDCA methodology, bringing marketing and sales into the same project team rather than two separate ones. Looking at how digital leads actually behaved, ahead of any sales contact, showed that a meaningful share of them were already more qualified than the team assumed — signals that existed on the website but had never reached the people making the first contacts. The gap wasn't a lack of good leads. It was that sales had no visibility into which leads were already showing theses signals, and follow-up wasn't happening systematically enough to act on it. The steering committee's decision was direct: phone follow-up on these leads needed to become systematic, not occasional.
We created that visibility for the commercial team on these signals so the sales team could act on these leads. Follow-up was then systematized and tested over three months, with structured call-backs.
What changed
Systematic follow-up turned 10% of available contacts into new meetings that wouldn't otherwise have happened.
Projected impact: +150 kEUR EBT/year, for an investment of 6.5 kEUR/year — a return in roughly half a month.
